Faux Light Hack

Brooke told Jessica!

And Jessica told me, that Brooke said you could be an electrician without electricity!

Say what?  Excuse the valley girl talk but I was like totally amazed and at the same time thinking Duh!   Why didn’t I think of that!

Lights without electricity!

Which means my house is about to get hit with sconces in every room!  And the sign?  Sit tight I’ll give you the deets on that as well.

It starts with this guy.

$9.98 at Lowe’s

I checked the thrift store and our local Re Store first but no luck that day for a similar piece, however I did get the next required piece for a thrifty $3.00.

They had quite a few of these in different shapes.  it’s frosted glass and I just sprayed it with Rust-Oleum oil rubbed bronze and you’d never guess the two pieces didn’t come as a set.  Didn’t even prime it since it will be untouched once it’s hung.

I bought a 3 pack of these tap lights (faux lights in every room!).  Brooke from Nesting With Grace suggested the kind with remote control, but I can’t be trusted to keep track of the remote control so I went with the tap lights.  Either will work.

Used rubber cement to glue the puck light right inside the fixture and….

Let there be light!

This is just a soft mood light, which is the look I wanted.  You can buy lights with higher output if wanting something brighter.

So for a whopping $13 for the light, I avoid the need to hire an electrician and am able to add some mood lighting here, there and everywhere!

It’s a nice way to add a little more farmhouse flair and personality to your decor.

This sign is one of my favorite quotes and Ashley at Artisign Designs

made it for me.  LOVE it!  And she’s giving one away to a lucky ducky as well!
